Just a small selection of pipes reflect in the light in the display window. A large workbench in the background, in front of which is a glass display case. The name Bertram Safferling is emblazoned on the glass door. Asubtle hint of pipe tobacco hangs in the air. Bertram Safferling is wearing a robust leather apron and holding a still-warm pipe in his hand. He’s one of the last masters to carry on this craft, one which is in danger of dying out. He actually studied industrial design but has been making pipes for nearly 30 years.
